The Bay Area Film Alliance's Primary Goal is to support local film/media production, thereby promoting Northern California as a production destination.

  • The Film Alliance develops and encourages film activities in the Bay Area, collaborating with film industry entities, the media, and local and state agencies.
  • Our members work together to explore and promote both short- and long-term goals for filmmaking and allied media endeavors, and they recognize that these projects represent a major element of the Bay Area's economic and cultural base.

Our members encourage the recognition of film arts as an art form with widespread economic components, as well as cultural and financial benefits.

Local economies benefit enormously from local & imported media projects
Film Alliance committees work to raise community awareness of the impact of film/media production on the local community and of the issues associated with production through the focused use of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and through communication in the media.

We continue to develop and maintain open communication between citizens, local and state agencies, and the diverse members of the film/media community.

We work closely with the Bay Area Film Commissions, with the California Film Commission, and with a number of film permit offices, to get information about working in Northern California to the people who need it.
