San Francisco Film Commission & Film Office

The leadership of the Bay Area Film Alliance welcomes the news of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's recent appointments to the San Francisco Film Office and Commission.

Moreover, the Steering Committee lauds Mayor Newsom for once again seeking diversity and inclusiveness in his choices for the new Film Commission.

Some of the newly-named Film Commissioners are candidates nominated by the Film Alliance. "We are aware that there were hundreds of nominations candidates, and we are very happy that the Mayor has chosen several fine professionals from among our candidates," said Jarion Monroe, Film Alliance Chairman.

The announcement of $350,000 in City funds to be allocated to film promotion is cause for confidence in the Mayor's overall plan. Film Alliance Vice-chair David Hakim said, "We've spent the last three years strategizing within the film community, and now we are seeing much of that strategy rewarded, as the Mayor turns to those who know the issues best — members of San Francisco's expert professional community."
